Mudhead - Complete Recordings

Don't know much about these folks, but someone already uploaded this on youtube so you can hear and read info over here.

For some reason his version of this unofficial compilation is missing a track called Stare which exists in my version, so there it is. Overall pretty cool group, early noise rock with a psychedelic twang, lovers of the Surfers that's for sure. Deranged vocals and acidic guitars, shame the audio quality is only fair, otherwise I'd probably come back to them more often.

3 from A Limited Gourmet Boxset Of The Unclean & Imperfect (1990), 4-7 from What Does God Say About It? (1987).
13 wasn't in when I got it, I added it myself, from a compilation called Live From Lawrence (1988).

Introverts - Twentieth Century

As always when I wanna post something, I google to check if it popped up on bandcamp or something. I found this suspicious looking bandcamp page, which has no audio on it, but leads to another, more dubious and fishy looking page, which I didn't click through. So if this is indeed by the smallest chance an official page, reach out and I'll delete the download link. But since it's probably not, I have to chuckle, cause who the hell is trying to scam and fish via bandcamp using the most obscure bands like Introverts.

Yes obscure is the name of the game here.
Fantastic tape by this group, playing their version of Flipper punk, you know the kind, the sloppy bass, sleazy attitude, the kind this blog always appreciate.
It's more likely they are from Cleveland, as the cover art states it was "conceived/recorded in Cleveland, Ohio Oct. 80 - Mar. 81.".
But they have strong ties with Houston- Ralf Armin (Culturcide) was a member, and this was released via C.I.A. Records. Also the correspondence address leads to Houston, so yeah, I don't know, maybe they moved to Houston or something.

1986 - Treason of the Heart review
Unsound Magazine, Volume 3 Number 1

There's actually another place Houston is mentioned, and that's in a review for their second cassette which I could never get my hands on ! So here we are again, with me on my knees pleading for someone to share something. Help us ladies and gentlemen, for we are looking Introverts - Treason of the Heart.
So if you got a rip of this one, or any other thing by the band, or just some more information or stories, do share.

Damn this blog is now a decade old.
Not a bad run if you ask me.
Talking to myself while writing this nonsense.
If you've followed this blog throughout this period,
Thanks, I truly appreciate it.

First Things First - Life Reducer

Follow up post.

Even more psych-noise rock than the first one, again Helios Creed and Terminal Cheesecake come to mind. The latter's dub vibes come also in the shape of the excellent dub jam title track (also made me think of Blind Idiot God).

Pineal Ventana - Philosopher's Stone

As long as my Soulseek wishlist is doing its work, I know there's still hope for this world. So whoever I got this from, who finally ripped this and shared it, thank you.

This blog is in dire need of resuscitation (and not because of the war, I'm just busy, sorry), so instead of just editing the Pineal Ventana discography post, and letting this gem of an EP to be neglected in the archives- here's me pumping you again with PV, you need PV in your life. This band was something else.
That PV post I mentioned actually had three of these tracks, but here's the full thing, lossless rip.

1. Philosopher's Stone
2. Golden Return
3. Cheese of The Month Club
4. Sour Sheet
5. Attack of The 50Ft. Cannibal Clownz

3H-B

                                                                                                                                                                                                                       3ח-B

This is a follow-up post for Shalosh Hait one I made a couple years ago.
This one is dedicated to the bassist Ram Aruveni who passed away a couple of days ago.

Here we have another unofficial cassette, claimed to be "the last recording session they made", albeit I find it false. I think it's a mix of various sources, both studio and live Pargod sessions.

Ran Slavin, David Opp, Ram Aruveni
Side A:
00:00 Daydream [Track 15 on their sole full length bonus CD]
04:32 Untitled [Longer, unedited version of track 14 on their sole full length bonus CD]
12:25 Untitled [Different version of one of the two 1989.08.10 Untitled tracks from the last post]
17:22 במצב של חריטה [Different version of track 13 on their sole full length bonus CD]
22:50 Untitled
26:02 Untitled
29:22 Untitled

Side B:
00:00 Untitled
00:54 Untitled
05:14 Untitled
07:17 Untitled
11:00 מפיות חומות (Brown Napkins) [Early version of a song by a band called Rir, Ran Slavin's post 3H band]
16:01 Untitled
20:17 משהו מדומה [Different version of track 9 on their sole full length bonus CD]
25:01 London Time [Track 5 on their sole full length bonus CD, also track 3 on the bootleg from the last post]
28:43 אל תצעק (גיטרות) [Different version of track 12 on their sole full length CD]

RIP Ram

Among other things Ram also operated in One Two Four Nine , Barbara (both with David), Solo . Even toured with Rabies Caste on their 2002 US tour. So yeah, as you can see, this guy is a fan favorite here in the blog.

מעצ

1982, days of the Lebanon War, a couple of Israeli leftists formed an activists group called ועד למען בריאות הציבור (Public Health Committee). Among their anarcho activities, they were also making music, playing live in some peace protests.
Those roots led to the formation of מעצ (Ma'atz), a socio-political band, merging ethnic/oriental music with new wave. Minimal Compact would be the first thing to come to mind, but influences are varied from Gang of Four to Yemenite folk.

Based in Tel Aviv, yet they weren't really part of the local new wave scene. They didn't perform often and when they did it was mostly on students festivals in colleges and less in clubs.
Ilana Tzabari (Bass, Vocals), Ziv Lewis (Synth), Hezi Davidian (Guitar), Lior Saar (Bass, Drum Machine). Also contributed in the group's early days were Nevo Svorai (Vocals) and Ido Amin (Drums).

The bandcamp up above is their first and only cassette, self released on February 1988. 200 copies were initially pressed by their own "label" called "לא BUDGET" (לא=No). Later sources say about a 1000 were sold, I think it's a bit exaggerated, but probably more were pressed indeed. Personally I think it's a cool album, but not something I listen to often, other than the first track which is a straight-up classic with its iconic samples (Hebrew needed) and guitar work. Track 8 is also a personal favorite, but I'll always come back to a cover made by the blog sweethearts Mujahideen
In 2001 it was re-released by Earsay on CD with bonus tracks. Those are not on the bandcamp version so I got you.

18. Remix השעון ההיסטורי

Now, the real intention of this long planned post (since this blog formation pretty much, like most other posts), is to share rare demos that I have on my PC. I can't remember how I got these. I'm sure it'll interest some local readers of this blog who probably enjoy this band more than I do. I know the band has recorded a full length worth of materials with Nevo, I reckon this is it. 1985-ish recordings, maybe someone will correct me. I left the titles as they were in the original files.

9. פלייבק [early version of השעון ההיסטורי]

In 2023 Nevo also uploaded a collection of his demos with the band to his own bandcamp:

First track here is an early version of a song that Nevo's later group (called Israel) will play.
The following are the same as in the demo I uploaded (some are slightly different versions):
3 is track 5, 4 is track 8, 5 is track 2, 6 is track 7, 7 is track 1.

If you wanna see some videos documentation, they participated in an indie film called Tiftuf directed by Danny Yitzhaki (Tzabari's husband at some point), where you can catch them in action in a couple of scenes.

Shithammer - Demo

Many years ago this was posted on Avalanchers forum (Godflesh related groupies forum), and since then I've seen it circulating only around Soulseek, so here it is.

"Dave Cochrane (Bass, "choppy guitar", vocals on 3 tracks) & Paul Neville (Drum programming, "droning guitar", vocals on 2 tracks)"
A very lo-fi demo for die-hard fans only. If you're into this blog than you probably know these names, and if you know the names you can probably guess what this sounds like.
5 untitled tracks, track 2's line sounds like a slowed up version of Sweet Tooth's Soul Shark opening bass, if you need a general idea of what you're going to hear.
Wish we could get to hear more of this with better audio.

Gotta love these Brummie folks

GAM - Phase 8

As I approach to post this album, one of many I planned to upload since this blog started, I came upon this youtube channel, which is uploading live GAM videos as I write this, so I guess this post is right on time.

GAM were a Savannah (with some Louisville roots) weirdos group, active for most of the 90's. This album is pretty diverse, a bit too diverse, but other than that it's a great one. They call the music Freak Folk, you'll notice it just means a wide variety of genres flavored with a southern twang.
FFO Butthole Surfers, Cows, Captain Beefheart, Chrome, Cramps, Country Teasers, Flaming Lips, Von LMO

1. Woo Yeah
2. Brain Damage

Please.

Human - Transmission

Tony Calvert (vocals), Tony Hamill (bass), Richard Lewis (guitars, programming).
The first two played in a group called Tortoise Corpse, so I think this was also recorded in Swansea, but not too sure.
Ministry-Skinny Puppy industrial metal. The third track has this quirky dungeon-synth line that I highly appreciated, as primitive 90's as it gets.

4. Insignificance
5. Human Abattoir

Disbanded later in the 90's, Andreas Schiegl started opreating under Hausen, creating more abstract electronic music (or so they say).

Eftus Spectun - Eftus Spectun

British group from Bristol/Bath, Kieran Sheehy on drums, Sam Langley on lead vocals, bass and Oliver White on guitar and vocals. On this one I think they were a duo.

This album is like a transition album between their first era of 'angular math pop', short songs (with madness vibes a-la Cardiac Arrest, Karl Blake, Mother of Inventions, etc..) to the later more abstract style (minimalistic Glenn Branca, Derek Bailey, etc..). First track is the best one, gives a lot of This Heat's vibes. The other two are solo efforts I think, sound collage/noise/dungeon synth/chamber, done well, not the boring kind.

1. Untitled (Eftus Spectun)
2. The Orient (Oliver White)
3. Lagoon (Sam Langley)

Streaming links for the rest of their discography:

Era I:

The Garden/The River Split

Kids like The Garden (right ?), I like The Garden.. so here's The Garden.
I've had this split files lying around for years and wanted to post it, but haven't got to do it (like many other planned posts, someday). And now when I finally got it, I discovered that in the meantime it was uploaded to the band's youtube channel, so I wasn't planning to post it, but I noticed that my version has an extra song, with unknown origin, so of course it justifies this post just for the slim chance some fanatic groupie will ever stumble upon it.
The track order is also different from the known tape version, I left it as it was. I excluded The River's part of the split since it's available on their bandcamp.

1. Fruits & Vegetables
2. Quick
3. Tear
4. Bag

*****,*****

Ringwood, Green, Coop

Pronounced as two coughs, or sometimes just Cough, Cough and pretty much impossible to google, so here's me hoping to make life easier for those who seek for their music. Short lived trio started in Canberra later moved to Melbourne. Two self-released cassettes, art-punk, lot of no-wave vibes (also a bit This Heat, The Gordons), cool stuff generally, not the greatest quality though.
Allan Coop (later Sunday Painters) on bass, Peter Ringwood on guitar and vocals on second cassette, and Cathy Green (later X, the Aussie X. Could have just equally said the good band called X right ? you would understand which one I'm talkin' about) drumming.

Convulsif Big Band

When I made a list of 2016 releases you shouldn't miss, Convulsif made their first appearance here on the blog. 6 years later and I still love these guys. You can find most of their discography on their bandcamp page, all their recordings as a quartet.

What's not there is their first incarnation, the Big Band, and it's pretty hard to find online as well. So here I am.. I think they formed around 2009, by Loïc Grobéty. They had some kind of ever changing line-up concept at that time, which was abandoned as they fixed on the current quartet.

2011 - 1

- Guido Wyss / drum
- Sébastien Aegerter / vibraphone
- Gregor Vidic / baritone sax
- Marc Jufer / sax tenor
- Loïc Grobéty / bass
- Stéphane Loup / guitars
[not part of this recording but also around that time, - Benjamin Pluss / vocals]

My PC file says it's from 2013, but intertnet says 2011, internet wins.
I think it's a live recording of a show, one longass track.
Know that this is pretty different from the quartet, much less brutal and heavy, a lot more atmospheric jazz. But still retain some metallic ideas that would appear later on.
Goes through different segments, some slow and smooth, some free jazz crazylike.

2013 - 2

- Martin Perret / drums
- Matthieu Amstutz / drums
- Christian Müller / clarinet + electronics
- Loïc Grobéty / bass + electronics + K7
- Gregor Vidic / baritone saxophone
- Marc Jufer / saxophone tenor + soprano
- Stéphane Loup / guitar + electronics

Double CD.
The first is almost the same length as on the first album, and starts with the same segment, but continues different, so I guess it's another live recording from the same era, same vibes and atmosphere. The second one is mostly pure drone noise for you abstract lovers.
